Something New, Something Old: Tabula Rasa Boutique

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Tabula Rasa is exactly where I want to shop! It's a vintage shop that was created for women who love all things vintage. It is filled with vintage clothing, reworked pieces and new and upcoming labels. This amazing shop was created by Jennifer Park who studied fashion at The Ryerson School of Fashion and was a designer for Le Chateau in Montreal. She decided she wanted to create a boutique that housed both vintage and new items! Now, that is what I am talking about!!
I just wish the store was nearby or online, but it is located in Canada. I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Purple Sunset

Blouse-Vintage, Skirt-Forever 21, Shoes-Dolce Vita Courtesy of Tobi.com, Handbag-Banana Republic, Necklace& Bangle & Ring -Forever 21
I am a big fan of combining vintage and new items together. Most of the time I prefer them to still look modern and as if I just bought it from the store today. This vintage purple silk top is a favorite in my closet right now. It is so soft and the color is a dusty dark purple. Many of you ask me where I vintage shop in the area and I plan to have a post on it soon. However to be honest with my schedule I tend to vintage shop online a lot. I love Etsy and eBay. I tend to favor Esty since the prices are better.
I have a crazy schedule over the next week and I will be in San Diego for a work sales recognition trip and then I will be Orange County for the Crossfit Regionals. I am working out with my gym's affiliate team. Trust me ladies- with work, family, the blog, it can be hard to do Crossfit the way I want, but I have tried to realize I can only do MY best and I am just going to have fun out there and work hard. My boyfriend on the other hand does this competitively and he competed in the Crossfit Games last year. Here is a video of him doing kipping pull ups and my little head in the bottom of the screen.
I will try to post here and there, but it will be more sparse for the next week!
If you want to submit a header for this blog soon please email me with your design. Thanks!

Perfectly Pretty: Lauren Moffatt Spring 2010

Lauren Moffatt Spring 2010
Lauren Moffatt's Spring 2010 collection is the full of flirtatious innocence. I love the pretty frocks and vibrant prints and patterns. Lauren is great when it comes creating perfectly vintage inspired looks that are fresh and modern.
Plus, I love her clothes paired with a perfect wooden clog or platform and then topped with a great summer hat or head piece!
Don't you all loooove the shoes?

The Chloe Experiment

Cape-H&M, Blouse-H&M, Pants-UniQlo, Belt-Zara, Bag-H&M, Sandals-Sam Endelman, Sunglasses-Forever 21, Ring-Forever 21, Bangles-H&M, Necklace-House of Harlow 1960
As many of you already know I have a love for the designers Stella McCartney and Chloe. You can see some examples here and here and here. Sometimes it is fun to take very literal approach to the idea of "runway to realway" and try to do your best version of a collection from what you have in your closet. Chloe's Spring/Summer 2010 collection got mixed reviews, but it was one of my favorites for it's simple chic outfits. I loved the boyish feel and how refreshingly natural it is. The Chloe women looks practical and not over thought in leather sandals, classic button downs and a cape or poncho.
So, I decided to create my own take on it. This H&M cape always reminds me of Chloe and is probably why I bought it. I also have so many great neutral colors in my closet right now that made it easy to replicate the gray pant and cream blouse in the outfit that inspired me (below and here).
Let me say that this outfit was not a favorite of my boyfriend. I had a sense he wouldn't fancy me all covered up and looking as if I am a extra on Star Wars. I showed him a video of this Chloe collection and he wasn't fond of it either, figures. However, he has a point. I think next time I will go more minimal like the Chloe girl and wear less jewelry. I was just in the mood to layer it on, but it makes me look a little like I belong in an Arabian dessert, but that doesn't change my feeling for Chloe. Never :)

Burst of Blue

Jacket, Shorts and Bag-H&M, Sandals-Sam Endelman
I love color. I know that I wear a lot of neutral and pastels, but I am always a fan of wearing something bright and cheerful! So, when my boyfriend and I decided to walk to an early dinner and drinks on Saturday I threw on these electric blue shorts from H&M. They are perfect for spring and will transition into summer perfectly. When wearing bright colors don't be afraid to wear something else that stands out. I went for a little sparkle with this sequin jacket. However, if you aren't used to wearing bold colors try it as a focal piece and leave the rest of your outfit simple.

Drench Me In Gold

Dress (worn as a top)-Nasty Gal, Skirt-Zara, Shoes-Dolce Vita courtesy of Tobi, Necklace-House of Harlow 1960, bangles-H&M, Rings-Forever 21, Clutch-H&M
There is something about a warm sunny day that makes me want to drench myself in gold jewelry and accessories. I mean don't get me wrong I love silver, but I am a gold girl. I am particularly obsessed with my new House of Harlow 1960 black leather starburst necklace. You will be seeing this baby a lot in the next week. I can't take it off.
This top is really a lace mini dress that I got from Nasty Gal. It is a little short for a day of running around, plus I still am sporting a "winter coat" and need a tan before I can bear that much leg. However, I am loving the puffy shoulder and lace detail of the dress and thought it would go great tucked into some of my shorts and skirts.
Last but not least are my new peep toe booties given to me from Tobi. I adore them and they are such a fabulous color. Tobi has such a great collection of contemporary lines available online. They carry some of my favorite lines like Alice & Olivia, Dolce Vita, Elizabeth and James, and Mink Pink. Go and check out this great online San Francisco Bay Area shop!
Winner of the Dalena Vintage Skirt is:

Kissed By The Sun

Hat-Uni Qlo, Tank-Urban Outfitters, Pants-Vintage via Dalena Vintage, Belt-Zara, Wedges-Aldo, Bag-H&M, Watch-Michael Kors, Bangle-Vintage Monet, Rings-Forever 21 and Lu Shae Jewelry, Necklaces-Sarah Swell, H&M and House of Harlow 1960
No I am not in Nappa, I am around the corner from my cottage in Los Gatos! I adore our town and with the weather being so perfect I was comfortable without a jacket. I recently bought these vintage cream trousers from Dalena Vintage. I love them and they go with so many of my tops (which I just realized I hardly own any tops)! I also found out that my mother's old bangle I stole is vintage Monet, which was one of the first inexpensive gold plated bangles made for women. You can see them on eBay. I wear mine every day with an oversized men's watch. I think it is time to upgrade to a larger men's watch. My girlfriend bought one and I am in love with it. I just get worried about my small wrists looking ridiculous, but you only live once!
Yesterday, I went to the Chictopia Shop Social event in San Francisco and was able to finally meet Jennie, Christina, Laura, Liz, Annie, Kristine and a few other lovely ladies! I hope to get up there again soon. Update: See a write up and a picture of what I wore that night here. I was lucky to have my picture on the flyer that night too. I will try to share it soon!
Thank you to those who have submitted a header for the contest! It is so fun seeing your creations! Keep them coming! Email [email protected]

Mad About This Girl

Elle Uk April 2010 via Studded Hearts
I know, I know! I always post about Chloe Sevigny, but she is my style idol. I always look to her for inspiration! These images are just starring at me on my desktop and I just had to add them to the blog. Plus, all the Miu Miu has me in a frenzy.

All That Glitters

Blazer-H&M, Dress-MinkPink via Otte, Belt-J. Crew, Shoes-Aldo (thrifted), Clutch-vintage, Headband-Anthropologie, Watch-Michael Kors, Necklace-House of Harlow 1960, rings-Forever 21 and ring courtesy of LuShae Jewelry

This weekend the weather was amazing! It was so nice that a few of us laid out by our pool and got a little sun. As my girlfriend and I perused fashion magazines we laughed at the fact that we are always drawn to everything that is shiny and sparkly. What typical girls-show us something with sequins and we fall in love. It's no wonder that later that night when my boyfriend and I went out for drink and a movie I wanted to get my shine on. I love this ring that LuShae Jewelry sent me. It is so delicate and light that I can wear it comfortably all day and I love it's message "believe". This echos what I say in my head all the time. I think it is so important to believe in yourself, your friends and family. That if you believe you will achieve your goals and dreams and believe in your skills and strengths they will come true. So, boys and girls BELIEVE!
(note I threw on my "believe ring at drinks-I had left in in my purse and was happy to find it)
