Dots and Socks

Top-Zara, Shorts-Forever21, Belt-Gap, Shoes-Steve Madden (seen here and here), Socks-J. Crew, Bag-H&M, Watch-Michael Kors, Necklace-Garnett via Need Supply

I love when one of your favorite pieces comes home from a long vacation at the dry cleaners. This silk blush colored top (worn here) has been out of commission for months and now that I have it back I plan to wear it as much a possible. I even wore it in this warm weather by tucking it into a pair of breezy shorts. This weekend I have my 10 year high school reunion (yes I'm old). I am excited to see old faces and feel 16 again. Natalia, if your reading this I am desperate for an emergency hair appointment!

Indian Summer

The Bay Area is known for it's Indian summers. Truthfully, I'm not always a fan. Just when the the feeling of autumn settles in we get scorched by the hot sun. I decided the best way to beat the heat is to shop. I've had my eye on these Marc Jacobs gladiator bow sandals. I live in sandals and have been known to wear them into the winter months. Here are a few more of my second summer must-haves:

1. Current Elliott boyfriend cut off shorts-Net-a-Porter
2. Sea stripes tank-Madewell
3. Anya Hindmarch beach bag-Net-a-Porter
4. Suede sunset sandal-Madewell
5. Michael Kors rose gold watch-Michael Kors
6.Tory Burch round sunglasses-Tory Burch
7. BCBG necklace-BCBG
8. Marc Jacobs bow gladiator sandals-Net-a-Porter

Go With the Flow

Skirt&Sweater-Forever 21, Shoes-Zara (worn here and here), Handbag-vintage, Sunglasses-Karen Walker (seen here), Ring-YSL, Necklace-Need Supply, Bangle-H&M

I was surprised when a heat wave hit our city this weekend making it  feel like the middle of summer. I really wanted to wear long knits and scarfs, but that was out of the question. The warm weather will probably stick around for a while and that isn't something to complain about. Luckily, my new maxi skirt from Forever21 is light and airy and kept me cool even in the heat. I love the soft brown color and decided on a gray top to keep the outfit neutral and feeling a little more fall.

Whoopie Pies

I've been excited to try making these delicious desserts ever since I bought the book Whoopie Pies. They are the perfect combination of a crispy sweet outside and a gooey savory middle. When I found a whoopie pie maker at Sur La Table I thought I had won the lottery and stumbled upon an easy and quick way to make the perfect little pie. I was wrong. It looked like a war zone in the kitchen. I had frosting and chocolate all over me and almost broke out in tears. Next time I plan to make them the old fashioned way. Despite their sad appearance they still tasted great and we ate every last bite!

My normal outfit post was scheduled for today, but I will post it tomorrow. I changed my domain name and there are still some issues being worked out. Thanks for your patience!

The Crossfit Community

One of the biggest reasons why I continue to do Crossfit despite my ripped up hands, bruised collar bones, and aching muscles is the strong community! There is something about the mental and physical challenges of Crossfit that bring people together. The dynamic is one of shear competitiveness, but also support and encouragement. There are days when I break down and struggle to the point of tears and I can always count on the community to cheer me on and help me in any way that they can.

I use to spend hours at big gym by myself. I was so bored of  having to spend another twenty minutes on the treadmill or doing one more sit up. Now, I can go to Crossfit, mingle with my friends, work so hard that I want to collapse, and then feel invigorated the rest of the day. The other great thing is that many times my work outs are only twenty minutes or less and with my schedule that is a life saver!

Do you have a work out community?
