When I opened my September issue of Vogue and saw these breath taking photos of Laura Stone I instantly knew I wanted to continue to shop for feminine, soft, beautiful, 50s inspired clothing. Don't get me wrong I have loved the 80s and 90s fashion that have been dominating the runways, but there is something so romantic about dressing this way. These clothes celebrate a woman with curves and that is something I definitely can get on board with. Last week I wore two retro styles (here and here) and you can be certain I am going to try even more.
Here are a few items that can help you achieve this 50s style:
1. Pretty poppy suede pumps from Isabel Marant from Net-a-porter.
2. A beautiful chunky knit from Stella McCartney or similar yet affordable version from Topshop
3. Retro rectangular frames from Jill Sander
4. Classic camel a-line skirt from Stella McCartney
5. Leopard coat from Topshop
6. A pretty polka dot headband from Thread Sence
7. Knit cardigan from Modcloth
8. A silk 1950s black and white dress from LA Vintage

Such a beautiful editorial. I'm definitely inspired now by 50s fashion (if I wasn't before!)

What I love about this is that she is so sexy without revealing a lot of skin. I don't like wearing short skirts or revealing tops so this style fits me perfectly. It proves sexiness is an inner power, not an overt way to get attention.
I love that she also looks like a real woman here - beautiful shots!

So happy the 50's are back!

I am so with you on the prettier throwback styles! This era reminds me of my always poised and elegant grandmother. I wish I still had some of her dainty cardican sweaters...Modcloth here I Come!

I adore her...those lips! That skin! The gap in her teeth!
I also agree that this retro throwback is very feminine and pretty, but I'm not wild about the kitten heel or low square heels...
I simply think this is one of the most beautiful editorials I've seen in a while now...
Those are gorgeous. I love her hair in these. Thanks for all the suggestions!
I loved this spread too! I totally put up the pages all over my inspiration boards.:)
Love this editorial! It was actually the inspiration for the lookbook my friend and I just put together for our new vintage store :)
oh gaaaad I love lara stone! Her face and her body...she's just perfect! this is very vogue. the perfectly coiffed hair, all-americana vibe. Grace Kelly 2.0, with a little more sex thrown in!

So cute! I love all these looks from the shoot...I've always steered to wearing more 50's inspired emsembles. Audrey Hepburn & Doris Day are great inspiration for this style too!
Start wearing one the Emmy's hottest trends now: Navy!

I'm loving this editorial. Vogue has been doing a lot of pictorials with a'retro' feel. The Vogue Turkey August issue was just as gorgeous but had more of a 60s/70s feel.
This one reminds me so much of 'Mad Men'!
the leopard belted sweater is gorgeous! I agree about dressing with inspiration from the 50's. I like celebrating that i'm a woman by wearing more feminine things!
xoxo
wow, these pics are amazing! Love her hairdo :)

el pelo, los ojos, la ropa! hermosa
I am SO excited for this 50s revival!! I'm ready for a shift to more feminine, dressy styles and less super-casual stuff. I loved this spread in Vogue, too. I cut out all of these photos for my inspiration book :)
I have 2 vintage dresses from the 50s that I will be posting about soon! Love the change of pace and going a little softer with style.
great blog. :)
