This weekend we found a beautiful spot and were, at the same time, delighted to find a new friend. Isn't he cute? He sat with his head poked out watching our every move. That's what's great about getting out and exploring the city--you never know what you might find or who you might meet.

Weekend Wish List {Fun in the Sun}

This weekend I'm looking forward to relaxing and laying by the pool. I've got a stack of magazines, homemade lemonade and a basket of fruit waiting to join me. I'll be slathering on a ton of sunscreen so self-tanner helps give me a healthy glow. This one from L'OREAL has a new airbrush spray that doesn't streak and smells like sweet citrus!

Avocado Smoothie

I love avocados. It's fun to find new ways to incorporate them into recipes. You might have noticed I've been on a smoothie kick (here and here). So naturally when I came across Honest Fare's recipe for an avocado smoothie I had to try it. I made a few tweaks to her recipe. I prefer to use honey over agave nectar so I added a bit of honey and less agave. I also added half of a banana to make it even more creamy and sweet. It turned out great and was a nice change from my kale and spinach smoothie. 

Note: I did not throw in the avocado with the skin. I squeezed it into the blender.

Things That Make Me Smile

 

Here are a few things that made me smile this week:

1. Pretty pink peonies.
2. My favorite sweet potato fries from The Counter.
3. A stack of magazines and my J. Crew notebook.
4. Wearing my "Taylor" necklace after it was out of commission for months.
5. My H&M panama hat and swimsuit (for a mini vacation in a couple weeks).
6. Painting my nails my favorite pink (seen here and here) after a week of neon green.

My new Hallelu top is so comfortable and easy...I've been wearing it non-stop. It's like my current "go to look" (similar look here).  Seriously, I enjoy pairing this top with a maxi skirt or just an old pair of jeans for a casual attractive feel. It's great for a beautiful spring afternoon just relaxing with friends!

Glitter Guide {Behind The Scenes}

Glitter Guide is launching in a few weeks! Our excitement is growing as we work on the finishing touches. Thank you for being so patient and supportive during this preparation phase.These last few months have been a total whirlwind of learning, planning, and activity. This weekend Glitter Guide went bi-coastal with shoots in San Francisco and New York. These are some behind the scene pictures of our shoot with Caitlin Flemming in her beautiful home. We don't want to share too much--just a look at what we've been up to. Alicia keeps us entertained with her hilarious (and constant) humming and I'm usually standing behind the photographer smiling at our subject. It's a ton of fun and we can't wait to show you more!

Color Block

I've been excited to try the color block trend for sometime but I didn't have the right pieces to pull it off. That was until Hallelu sent me this amazing coral maxi skirt and pink cropped top. I really went for the "anything goes" approach that I mentioned on Friday. Even with my assortment of candy colors this outfit felt comfortable and easy--a great look for a beach party or tropical vacation.

Summer is nearly upon us and it's time to enjoy funky bright colors for a juicy fruit look. You really can't go wrong with a "mix and match" approach. Anything goes! Wear them with fun accessories like glittery flats and leopard print sunglasses.

Chopped Broccoli Salad

 

 

People still look at my boyfriend and I sideways when we tell them how we eat. It's as if they think we're miserable and depressed because we eat healthy. However, it's just the opposite. We feel invigorated by eating fresh, healthy and natural foods. It also allows us to feel better about eating things that other people worry about. This broccoli salad is amazing and very healthy. However, a few of our friends worried about the bacon and carrots, "Aren't carrots high in sugar?" they ask. In our opinion carrots aren't what you should worry about. Even bacon is fine as long as you don't eat it everyday. I limit the amount of starch and sugar I eat and that gives room for things like bacon, bread, and frozen yogurt here and there.

This salad is great for lunch and lasts a few days. I recommend that you use fresh dill because it adds so much flavor.

Rain, rain go away! I can hardly wait for warm weather and outdoor summer parties. As I mentioned on Monday, striped shirts and cargo jackets are staples in my closet and lately I've been living in them. I think I've worn a different striped shirt every day for the last four days. I also seem to always grab this vintage pleated skirt when it rains (seen before here). It's length and thick material keep me warm in this gloomy weather.
