Shop Till You Drop

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Bebe trench, Urban Outfitters silk top, J Crew cropped pants, Sam Edelman booties, Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag, Forever 21 ring, Michael Kors Watch, My own charm initial necklace layered with (courtesy of) Sarah Swell silver lost treasure coin necklace.
This weekend the boyfriend and I headed into San Francisco to spend the day shopping. When I am shopping and running around I like to be comfortable, but when I am in the city I still want to look chic. Since the weather was a little gloomy I threw on my favorite trench from Bebe. This jacket is so silk smooth and comfortable. It was one of my best purchases last year. I decided to stay with neutral colors to keep my look kind of a classic and sleek. I know some people don't combine different color browns, black and creams all together, but I don't care about that. I just wear what feels good to me at the time.

When I have a day of shopping I pack:
1. Water: I always need something to quench my thirst especially when I am in thrift stores
2. Deodorant: I don't want to get stuck being stinky and all that changing and walking gets me hot.
3. A protein bar: perfect for a quick pick me up
5. Easy wardrobe: I did not do this for this trip since I new we were going to dinner. However, usually I like to have things that slip on and off when I know I will be trying things on. I hate when I have to unbuckle and unzip everything.

Love this trench, it's gorgeous :) My shopping strategy is to bring hand sanitiser, my sigg water bottle and a few almonds in my bag for snacks. Also I try not to bring my bf, he can't stand being in a store for 5 mins before he gets bored. Alternatively I encourage him to go to the electronics dept while I shop, lol :)

Lovely outfit :]

Oh man, I hate when I go thrifting unplanned and so I'll be wearing layers and things that buckle and need to be tied. Oh, it's terrible!

By the way, shopping strategy:
I wear a camisole, long sweater/tunic, tights and moderately high heels (low enough that I can walk comfortably in and high enough to be able to get a good gauge about how what I am trying on would look if I were to dress up.

In terms of food I tend to deprive myself of that... I know that's not the way to go but I try to carry as little as possible so I don't have to lug much around.

I agree with Ally, the music in thrift stores is God awful. Although it was nice to hear some vintage N-sync this weekend. I hadn't heard them since 1998.

Love your outfit Taylor!

You have no idea how excited I am that you're rocking a trench coat. I literally JUST got a Gryphon trench in the mail and I'm trolling the blogosphere for inspiration. This is heaven sent :)

My shopping strategy: try to cover as many of the racks as possible by systematically scanning through everything. I love a store that's sized perfectly, with the perfect amount of stock, so that I can scan everything in about 30 minutes. That leaves me with enough energy ti try things on, and visit a few more stores if necessary.

I love your casual but chic look! When I go shopping I must have shoes or boots that I can easily remove, just to make sure I won't take too long in the changing rooms!

oooh shopping strategy i have no idea. dress cute and hope for the best haha! but yea clothes that are easy to slip off would be an advantage i hate hate hate taking off loads of layers. Last time i was n san fran i started the day off in shorts and a tee as it was lovely and hot, then the mist/fog set in and i had to go buy some clothes to wear as it got so cold ha.
San Fran weather is hard work xxxxx

Cute outfit. When I go shopping, I have to make sure I wear the right bra! As crazy as it soounds when I have had the wrong one on, it totally ruined the trip. haha!

Melmo Momoko said...

My shopping strategies are almost the same, I always take water, deodorant and simple clothes with me. But a cereal bar is a good addition :D

You look gorgeous. The pants with these shoes and the creamy colours on the top. Perfection :D

YES! I like your little personal "rules" for shopping, very helpful.
I always want to look great but be super comfortable when shopping, so shoes are a little difficult. And if I know I'll be trying on lots of things, I want to wear something simple, but not be boring.
I guess there's a lot that goes into it...definitely worth all the work, though ;)

I agree with your #1, water is the best way to quench thirst! My shopping outfit usually consists of a solid color top (white or black is the best),jeans, and some kind of outerwear. I usually stay away from dresses because what would I do if I had to try on a top? go bottomless? eeekhsss!:p and I usually go with a pair of flats if I'm planning to shop for more than 3 hours :D

anyways, YOU LOOK GREAT!i'm in love with my trench as well and it's definitely one of those classic pieces that will stay in my closet for the longest time :)
