The Chloe Experiment

As many of you already know I have a love for the designers Stella McCartney and Chloe. You can see some examples here and here and here. Sometimes it is fun to take very literal approach to the idea of "runway to realway" and try to do your best version of a collection from what you have in your closet. Chloe's Spring/Summer 2010 collection got mixed reviews, but it was one of my favorites for it's simple chic outfits. I loved the boyish feel and how refreshingly natural it is. The Chloe women looks practical and not over thought in leather sandals, classic button downs and a cape or poncho.

So, I decided to create my own take on it. This H&M cape always reminds me of Chloe and is probably why I bought it. I also have so many great neutral colors in my closet right now that made it easy to replicate the gray pant and cream blouse in the outfit that inspired me (below and here).

Let me say that this outfit was not a favorite of my boyfriend. I had a sense he wouldn't fancy me all covered up and looking as if I am a extra on Star Wars. I showed him a video of this Chloe collection and he wasn't fond of it either, figures. However, he has a point. I think next time I will go more minimal like the Chloe girl and wear less jewelry. I was just in the mood to layer it on, but it makes me look a little like I belong in an Arabian dessert, but that doesn't change my feeling for Chloe. Never :)

I think this is a great idea runway to realway- perhaps if you swapped the flats for highhhh heels it would create a better silhouette? love the shirt and grey trousers, great interpretation of the trend! xx katie

I think you definitely channeled that Chloe very well, but love how you threw in your own personal twist. The leather cognac accents like your belt and bag totally make the outfit. I love the colour and fit of those UniQlo pants too!

Very nice Look!

high five tay! i think i'd like it more if you paired it with heels, but thats just cause i love height. even if it means my feet will most definitely suffer. and honey! it looks better with the coat opened cause it gives the assumption you're bulgy underneath and you're so not!! maybe belt it?

i need to try and do this "inspired by designer" idea.

It's all about the accessories so I can see why a guy doesn't really get it. Although, I think you look fab.

Thanks for the comment on the layout. I am liking yours too. I think what would have made this work better is tighter pants, like leggings or jeggings, or just a skinny fit. Then only one piece is boxy giving the whole look a sense of balance. Overall, though I think it looks really good and boys just dont get it.

I actually really like this look but only with the cape open! also, I think skinny jeans may have worked really well with this look...to make it not all baggy! but you totally got the chloƩ right! Perfect interpretation!

Thanks girls. I love the tips!!

Just know I was trying to go as literal as possible (except the jewelry) to see how it would look in real life. I mean I couldn't get it perfect b/c I don't own all these Chloe clothes, but I wanted it to feel just like it.

Now if I was going to make it my own I would much rather wear skinny pants and jeans or even shorts.

Very lovely take on runway to real life. I really love it when the poncho is opened. It breaks it up a little more. Regardless, nice work--you're so chic!
