Stockholm Street Style

Happy Monday! I thought I would start the week with some of my recent picks over at Stockholm Street Style. I especially like the first girl's pretty and simple outfit. Her shoes are adorable and are from Opening Ceremony. Check out their great online boutique where Chloe Sevigny has designed a line!

Time for a new "Perfume Pick of the Month". What scents are you crazy about for fall? Post to comments!

Friday's Featured Blogger- Couture Carrie

I am still new to the blogging world and a few weeks ago I came across Carrie Critton's blog, Couture Carrie. I immediately was hooked on Carrie's unique style. For every post she picks a theme ( e.g. "Mad Men Mania" or "Platforma") and gives her readers a plethora of images that she is inspired by. Carrie has a great eye and a sweet personality too! I recently asked Carrie some questions about her blog and her style.

1. What inspired you to start a fashion blog?
Ever since I was a teenager and fell in love with fashion, I have maintained a fashion journal/sketchbook charting prevailing trends and my own clothing and accessories purchases. About a year and a half ago, I decided it was time to try a new medium, and Couture Carrie was born!
2. Who is your favorite couture designer?
Christian Lacroix, for his whimsy and attention to detail.
3. Are you a bag or shoe kind of girl?
Both! But I must admit, I have far more shoes than bags.  Here’s a recent purchase: Chloé blue suede cutout hidden platform booties.
4. How would you describe your personal style?
Edgy yet sophisticated.  I pride myself on mixing Designer pieces like this Issa dress (silk jersey dress in main image) with low-end items from Target, etc.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you aren't blogging?
I am a Pilates instructor, so you can often find me at Big Sky Fitness Center or the Hartford Golf Club.  Also, love to go out for cocktails with my gal pals or watch Mad Men while flipping through my favorite magazines.
6. What are 3 fall trends you are craving to try?
Over -the-knee boots, a peak-shouldered jacket, and something Houndstooth.

Kate Moss for Topshop-AW09!

I try not to post about Kate Moss too much, since everyone and their mom does. However, I love her just like the rest of you and she looks so freaking fabulous in the new line she worked on for Topshop. You know all the items she is wearing here are going to sell out so fast!

Precious Days Of Summer

{Forever 21 dress circa 2007, Steve Madden buffalo sandals, Urban Outfitter's watch, Forever 21 neacklace}

Summer is almost over. I am going to miss romantic evening walks, frozen yogurt, "Jazz in the Plaz", BBQ and roasting in the warm sun. The other night my boyfriend and I were about to go to dinner when I decided I wanted to take some shots in his backyard. The light was shinning through the trees and it was so ethereal. I am savoring these last precious days of summer.

Tips For Shopping at Forever 21

I am all about frugal shopping. Not everything needs to be designer and expensive to be fashionable. One of my favorite stops for inexpensive and stylish wear is Forever 21. The store is full of trendy clothes that will fit any budget.
A significant problem with Forever 21 stores is they are cluttered and this leaves many women feeling overwhelmed. I often get asked how I find such great pieces there. Well ladies, it is all about patience. You can't expect to fly into a massive three level Forever 21 and find all their best items. I have found that a lot of the gems are just what you would expect, hidden! Here are some of my tips:

1. One size does not fit all.
At Forever 21 not all sizes are created equal.  For example, dresses with bustiers are not made for girls with larger bust sizes. It may mean going up a size.
2. Check zippers, buttons, and seams.
I cannot tell you how many times I have gone home only to find that the zipper does not work or a button is on it's last leg of life. Forever does not do returns. So, be smart and double check before buy.
3. Pick items that are trendy, but classic.
One mistake women make is buying very trendy items. Now, I know it is cheap, but you don't want to end up LOOKING cheap. So, pick items that are trendy, but still could be mixed with your more expensive items and look like they belong.
4. Shop Online First.
I tend to shop online first. This helps me see all the items the store may have and see it on a real person. Once I find my favorite items I print them out and bring them to the store. You can even have a sales assistant help you find them (major time saver)!
4. Practice Patience.
I can't stress how important this is for me. I give myself an hour and I do figure eights around the store (and on multiple levels). This helps me notice things that I may not have seen the first time. I recently went looking for a dress and did not come with a picture. I circled the store a billion times looking for it. I was about to leave when I decided to give it one more try. BINGO! I found it logged between racks full of loudly printed dresses at the back of the store. Practice patience and good things will come.
Happy shopping!
What are some of your tips for thrifty shopping?

Louboutin's Miss Clichy 140 Boots

These boots are divine and I would love to find a similar pair! I am still loosing sleep over the pair at the vintage store. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket--they are at Net-a-Porter.

Hot Summer Day

Forever 21 tunic, A&F zipper jeans, Arden B. bangles, Forever 21 earrings, Target buffalo sandals

This orange tunic is one of my favorite items from Forever 21 this summer. I wear it over my bikini and it's the perfect little cover up. However, it also works well with some skinny jeans (too much fabric for any other jeans). This entire outfit was very inexpensive with most of the items being from Forever 21. I am going to need to invest in some fall pieces soon. What are you looking forward to buying this fall?

Heart of Gold

Recently, I was flipping through my old style book and found this editorial from ELLE (2005). I remember when I first saw these photos I immediately added a gold watch and white and gold Adidas jacket to my "Must Have" list!
Since then I have added a few jazzy gold watches to my collection, but I have never found this exact track jacket anywhere! I have searched high and low. If you know of where I can get my hands on it-PLEASE drop me a comment!

Blog Out Loud: San Francisco

Happy Monday everyone! Last night, I headed into San Francisco and attended the Blog Out Loud event being held at BellJar. It is a great and free! This event was founded by Megan Arquette and Rebecca Orlov. What Blog Out Loud does is give new bloggers or future bloggers the chance to hear from a panel of experienced bloggerettes and find out what they did to become successful and all the ins and outs of starting a blog.
The great thing about this event is that it's so personal. This is only their second event and I anticipate that the demand for more is only going to continue to grow. However, the power of of the meeting was being able to ask the bloggerettes any questions that we wanted and being able to mix and mingle after. You can check out video and articles on the Bloug Out Loud website.
Here are links to Megan's and Rebecca's blog and the lovely blogerettes that were showcased:

Thank you to all the ladies who contributed to this event! It was lovely!
