Fall Has Arrived
Fall has arrived. I plan to embrace it this weekend with some of my favorites: a cozy night out with friends, a fresh fig recipe, and pumpkin pancakes. Bring it on!
Have a great weekend!

Messy Wavy Hair Tutorial
This hair tutorial is not about perfection--that's what makes it easy. It's all about messy imperfect waves. It's my go-to hairstyle. You don't have to use a curling iron but it helps give you that extra curl (especially if your hair is naturally straight).
You'll need:
-Curling wax or cream
-Volumizing spray
-1" curling iron
-Hairspray
Directions:
-Towel dry your hair.
-Without brushing hair (it removes your natural curl) scrunch damp hair with wax/cream.
-Blow dry hair with a concentrator or a diffuser (I left mine a little damp in the video but dry works best).
-Pin hair up to get at multiple layers (I do about 4 layers from bottom to top).
-Open a 1" curling iron and wrap hair around the curling iron (you may need a glove) and hold it for 15-18 seconds.
-Hairspray and fluff hair with fingers.
-If it's too curly run your fingers through the curls to get loose waves.

Printed

Cardigan Jacket-H&M, Top-Zara, Pants-J. Crew, Shoes-Zara, Clutch-Coach (gift from Eliot), Bracelet-Forever 21 (similar style), Ring-c/o Sorrelli, Sunglasses-Marc by Marc Jacobs c/o Shop It To Me
Over the past year I've become more and more comfortable wearing mixed prints together (see past looks here and here). This is actually a pretty subdued mix up. I wore it with sandals during the day and and slipped on heels for a drink with friends.

Simple & Sweet

Top-Zara, Skirt-J. Crew (pants & dress available), Shoes-Zara, Bag-Zara, Bracelets-c/o Sorrelli & Forever 21, Watch-Michael Kors (similar style)
My last outfit at NYFW was simple and sweet. I admire the women who have incredible style and really push the limits. I'd love to have their bold sense of fashion but I'm a bit more simple. This is my ideal outfit--clean and feminine. Since I was attending the J. Crew presentation I felt it was appropriate to wear my new favorite J. Crew skirt (obsessed with all the floral taffeta pieces). I added edgy jewelry to give the look some toughness.

Spicy Baked Eggplant
-

When I'm in the mood for something salty to snack on I usually grab a bag of chips and proceed to devour it in an entire sitting. So I'm always looking for a healthy and tasty alternative. A few weeks ago my girlfriend introduced me to a simple recipe for baked eggplant. While eggplant isn't exactly as exciting as chips, this recipe makes for a delicious and satisfying snack without the guilt.
Directions:
-Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
-Cut eggplant in half, then slice eggplant into 1/2 inch slices.
-Brush both sides of eggplant with olive oil.
-Sprinkle with salt and pepper (I used "Slap Ya Mama" to make it spicy), and place on a non-stick baking tray, or on tin foil.
-Bake for around 30 minutes.
-Remove, let cool, and eat!

Snapshots
Embracing my big frizzy hair after seeing it all over the Spring 2012 runways.
Feeling girlie in my Estee Lauder lipstick and Spike The Punch necklace.
Admiring my new rain gear (J. Crew flats and Target umbrella). I'm prepped for fall.
Devouring frozen yogurt (my favorite treat other than ice cream).
Lathering myself in my new Nars body oil (smells so fresh!).
Standing over my mom's impromptu art project in her backyard.
Wondering what to do with the massive amounts of jewelry I've acquired.
For past snapshots head here, here, and here. Make sure to follow me on Instagram at Taylor Sterling and Glitter Guide to see more pics.

Seeing Red

With Shauna of Shop Style
Sweater-c/o Hallelu, Top- Equipment, Jeans-c/o James Jeans, Bag- Zara, Shoes- Zara, Sunglasses-Ray-Bans, Necklace-c/o Sorrelli, Lipstick-Revlon "Hot Coral"
Sometimes I have an outfit all planned out but when it comes time to wear it I'm totally not feeling it. That's what happened to me on my fourth day at fashion week. I didn't want to wear jeans while I was there but my suitcase wasn't agreeing with me. I scrambled around like a maniac and decided to wear jeans with a chunky sweater and my favorite Equipment blouse. My matching lipstick was an accident but I ended up liking my bold red look.

Crisp & Clean

Jacket-Zara (similar style), Top-Zara-Jeans-c/o James Jeans, Shoes & Bag-Zara,Sunglasses-Marc by Marc Jacobs c/o Shop It To Me, Bracelets- Bauble Bar (three middle ones) & Forever 21.
Recently, I've been inspired to dress more grown-up. Dare I say more maturely? I still love the current trends
(layers, colors, and arm candy). However, I've been making a concerted effort to purchase items that look clean and tailored and can be worn with most everything in my closet! This trench coat and top from Zara are two pieces that are very versatile. They compliment my pretty arm candy from Bauble Bar.

For my third day at New York Fashion Week I went for chic and polished. To keep it from looking too professional I added funky jewelry and sunglasses. I was so glad to have Kim with me all week. She's one stylish and sweet lady and I learned a lot from her.
