Bits of My Weekend

Last weekend was picture perfect. It was fun and overflowing with family and friends. Since I was laid off from work last November I've paid close attention to things that really matter--passion, health, friends and family. All are essential to my happiness. Each day I'm working tirelessly at my passion and I've never been more terrified and thrilled at the same time. I'm actually quite surprised at how I'm handling the fear of the unknown and that dreaded word...failure. I think most struggling entrepreneurs build a defense mechanism that allows them to feel utterly prettified and yet still feel invigorated to move forward everyday. Otherwise, they would never get anywhere. I focus on positive words, healthy food for my body and mind (with the occasional splurge), exercise, friends and family. Whether or not I succeed down the road does not mean as much as knowing that I worked hard at everything that is important to me--maybe that's the real secret to success.

You are so incredibly inspiring. I also lost my job last fall, and I thought the world was going to end. It was really the best thing that has ever happened to me. It opened my world and enabled me to pursue my passions and do things that I would have never otherwise done. Here's to chasing our dreams, never lose that passion for the things that make you happy!

Such inspiring words to remember. We often get too caught up in the daily stresses and insignificant, trivial things to remember what is really important. What a wonderful post :) xoxo Marissa

I love your words at the end of this post ... I needed those this week ... I'm a substitute teacher because I can't find a permanent job and it's easy to let that get to me ... thank-you for your thoughts I'll have to start remembering those things

Good for you!! Venturing into the unknown is always terrifying...sometimes so much so that you never do it. So maybe things worked out for the best so now you can pursue what is important to you.

Such lovely photos of a picture perfect weekend. I'm glad you've had the time to re-collect yourself and focus on things that are important to you these past few months. Most of us fear failure, but if you are doing what you love best, you will most certainly come out on top.

Brilliant post! I often wonder how I will handle it when the day comes that I venture out on my own...I hope I handle it as well as you are - dealing with the fear and embracing the unknown!

Such sweet and gorgeous photos!

And thank you for talking about your fears. I am all too familiar with the fear of failure, sometimes so much so that I don't even make an attempt at something because I am so worried it will flop and I'll be mortified. I think most of us think that we are the only ones who feel that way, it is always so encouraging to know that we are all in that same boat together.

You are so right, just knowing you worked hard and gave it a go in the face of fear and uncertainty already is success. There is a quote by Michael Jordan in which he lists all the times he has failed, and in the end he says "I've failed over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed". I'm trying hard to remember that every day.

This post was really inspiring. Some times it's hard to give something your all only because you're afraid of failing yourself. You seem like you're on the right track! Oh, and those little girls are so stinkin cute!

These pictures are darling, and the first photo was a trip because as a little thumbnail on my favorite blog list, it looked like a tiny voodoo doll in the fields! (Maybe just my twisted mind...)

Anyway, I hear you with the massive fear that accompanies the passion that presses us forward as entrepreneurs... but you know what? I think that doing what you love is the key. And surrounding yourself with loved ones who truly lift you up and believe in you, is the icing on top.

You're going to succeed.

this was a great, inspiring post to go for what you love with or without fear of failure. keep it coming! love the pic of the goldens, i just got word from my family back in texas that our beloved golden passed away and its been hard for me to cope with losing our long-time family dog. the pictures of these two remind me of how pretty these pups are and how i will definetly have one of these breeds as my family dog when i have kids.

You're so inspiring Taylor!! The grace and poise that you've shown in the last 6 months towards your situation has been really amazing to follow along with. I also think you've shown a lot of strength - following your passion project is a really bold move. Lastly, you've done it all so positively. I hope that if I'm ever in a similar situation (again), that I will be able to use you as an example.

I love that you meant to write "petrified" and ended up accidentally typing "prettified" -- I totally agree! :P
Your blog is helping so many of us prettify our lives. So Thanks! :)

Thanks, I needed that little reminder. It's only been a week since I found your blog via Emerson (my favourite brand!) and I just wanted to say hi and you're doing a great and inspirational thing here.
I'm graduating in a five weeks, and for a finished editor/publisher there's not a lot out there right now. I'm writing application after application and once in a while I get so down and thired, wondering if it's all worth it.
So this post really helped me remember my passion and why I just gotta keep at it.

All the best
xoxo
