My name is Taylor and I'm a shopaholic. This is not a revelation, I've always been this way. It's not just fashion that drives my cravings. I like to spend money on just about anything. So these last few weeks have been a learning experience--a true test of my will power and self control . Not having a a steady income has forced me to take a hard look at my spending habits. I'm having to be more creative. Now I remix my wardrobe and have to say no to things I would love to do. While I miss the thrill of buying something new I'm finally learning how to save and be smart with money. Yet another way that being laid off has pushed me to be a better me!

Thank you for the overwhelming supportive response to the Glitter Guide! A few of you asked if I could make a button for you to share. Please, let me know if you've added it  (located on the upper right sidebar). Thank you so much!

I agree with "The Pantry Drawer" what are you tricks? haha
I need to get serious about this as I just lost my job too. Am getting better though, and glad to hear you have found the positive side.
Popping over to "Glitter Guide" now to check it out as I was out of commission yesterday and missed the big announcement (boo I know).
Have a great day-

I know just what you mean about spending way too much on, well, everything! I have a shopping addiction like no other and I definitely need to take a step back and take a look at where all my money is going. Although, at this point, all I really have to do is look at my closet because it's all in there! Yikes! Haha. This is something I'm hoping to change this year!

You look so pretty with your hair up!

I had to quit my job since moving and am still looking for a new job in this new city and I'm starting to get freaked out a little bit and have put myself on a shopping ban, but screwed that up the first week. It's hard to put yourself on a budget but it can be done!

it's great that you are so positive and it's a great reality check to oversee our overspending every now and then. i'm a shopaholic as well and am really having to cut my expenses budget for the next few months to save up for a trip to visit home in Texas.

I totally know about the pain of being a shopaholic! I love the feeling I get when I shop but sometimes just sometimes I regret I spend money on things that easy. Now I think I have learned to monitor my urge to shop better.
Anyway in the end we will all learn our lessons right? Love your maxi skirt!

YAY for just saying no!!! I'm still not very good at just saying no...it's the opposite for me, I used to have to say no all the time but now that I have a job I don't have to (even though I should so I can move out XD)

This is such a great look! You look absolutely fabulous, I now would like to style something similar for myself.

And I totally understand the need to shop. Put me in any store whether it's a Nordstrom or auto shop and I will find things I "need."

It is good to learn to be more frugal. It definitely forces a new level of creativity and pushing yourself to think outside of the box.

I do LOVE this skirt! No one wears longer skirts much anymore, so I am always excited to see them!

Thanks ladies. I love maxi skirts- even though I don't wear them often. It's too cold for a mini right now.

This new frugality is a great lesson and glad to hear so many of you have been there before!

i'm the same way - whenever i'm unemployed, i stop purchasing clothing all together. it definitely forces me to be more creative and to fully use all of my wardrobe (and save some money!).

I usually don't find maxi skirts terribly flattering, but this has a really beautiful effect on your waistline and is very elegant. You should be able to find plenty of ways to wear this one!

Darling! You know how much I LOVE maxi skirts, and I love them even more so on you! It's such a whimsical look paired with the checkered top! I really really love it! This outfit would also work perfectly for spring. I think this must be another one of my favorite looks from you. You should wear your hair like this more often. So so beautiful!

I love the way you mixed this up. You look absolutely amazing. And coming from a shopaholic who also doesn't have a lot to spend, I definitely know the feeling. But you just make it work. And judging from this, you sure do it well.

I am also a big shopper and a believer of retail therapy. Working in non-profit and moving to San Francisco recently, however, has given me an incredible wake up call. But one thing is, you just have to be more creative. And that's not so bad, right? Thanks for sharing with us your insights on being a better you!

I added the Glitter Guide to my blog. Cheers!

I'm in love with your vintage purse! It's difficult to be on a budget and being mindful of saving (I'm a shopaholic too), but it works wonders when you realize how creative you can be and what clothes you find stashed in your closet. And you put together the outfit wonderfully.
