The Inner Carrie

I have always been an obsessive Sex and The City fan! I love to crawl into bed and watch an entire season in one sitting. I also have always felt a strong connection to Carrie as I know so many women do (example here). She is a free spirit who isn't afraid to fall in love and experiment with her style! I've also had my Adian and Mr. Big! The thing that surprised me was that recently my girlfriends told me that Carrie from late season 2 and all of season 3 really reminds them of me. They mentioned our wild wavy hair, sense of style, mannerisms, way of speech, and our vulnerability when it come to love. This caught me off guard because though I always felt a connection I never imagined other's would see it too. I connect with Carrie's ever evolving fashion and how her hair looks different ever episode (my boyfriend says he feels like he dates a new girl each day with all my different hair styles), are inability to save, our love for Vogue, and her passion for love and life.

If you want to emulate Carrie's style here are some tips I like to use:
-Don't be afraid to try new things! Mix patterns, where bold colors, and try new trends
-Have fun with funky jewelry.
-Wear high heels with everything
-play with different personas and looks. One day go for wild and unruly hair and the other slick it into a beautiful chignon
Here is a video that truly beings me back to a time in my life were I connect with Carrie.

I absolutely agree with you! I resemble Carrie in the way that she mixes unexpected things together and she never takes herself too seriously! I love that. I'm completely obsessed with Sex and the City as well. I'm a big fan of Sarah Jessica Parker and even have pictures of her around my house (not in a creepy stalker way). I find myself every winter popping in the series dvd to find constant inspiration!! I'm glad i'm not the only obsessed fan!

Ahhhh, Carrie - yes, I think we all feel a connection to Carrie because she put herself out there, was fearless in love, life and fashion and she wasn't perfect. I identified with her in every series but for me the last was my favourite because the story of all the ladies was so beautiful and they became so much more than fashion icons.

A great post - gonna have to dig those itunes files out!!!

I love SJP as Carrie. She was always my favorite. She is so cute and fashionable. I really like your post! It reminds me at the good old SATC times. Looking forward to the movie 2!!!!

Keep carrie-ing on :)

Ah, so good!

I would love to say I am a Carrie, but I def think I lean more towards Charlotte... maybe a Charlotte w/ a dash of Carrie ;)

I think we can all relate to the ladies in SATC. Underneath all the fashion & glamour, they were just regular gals looking for love in this modern world of dating. I miss the show terribly! One of the best series ever!

My friend and I were recently talking about how we as human beings are so hooked onto electronics. Reading this post makes me think back to that debate we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further develops, the possibility of copying our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I daydream about all the time.

I think I relate most to Charlotte- but my style I think would be a combo of Charlotte and Carrie. I think we all see a bit of ourselves in each character...that's why it's such a great show! :)

I never, ever tire of that show. Luckily it runs continuously with back-to-back episodes on the Comedy Network in the UK so I haven't had to buy the DVDs! (Though it would be nice to watch a season in one sitting!)

I'd have to say I'm a Charlotte. I'm always falling in love with her dresses and coats, but sometimes I kind of want to throw her Alice bands out the window! And she's had some great hats, I'm a real hat girl (in case you haven't seen on Dream Sequins!)♥

I too totally identify with Carrie. My favorite explanation of herself is when she references the movie "the way we were" with Barbara Streisand and identifies herself (because of her wild hair and wild spirit) as a "katie girl" as an explanation of why big couldnt handle her and ended up with Natasha. I am definitely a Katie girl:) Love the post and love that you are a "real life" Carrie, bringing inspiration to us daily:)

I really connect with Charlotte. Not so much the earlier seasons, but in the later ones where she becomes more confident. I adore her style, however I think my style is a mix of her's and Carrie's.
