My Bookshelf

With such a long weekend I would usually share a style post today, but with the rain and my lingering cold I spent most of the time indoors. On the bright side it gave me the opportunity to put together our new bookshelf from Ikea. I didn't want to overcrowd the bookshelf. Instead I mixed it up with magazines, books, knickknacks and pictures. Once we get boxes for storage and a new desk our spare room will be just about finished!

Preview my bedroom and desk and cottage (all works in progress). If you have questions about any of the items ask in the comments and I will try my best to get back to you.

Tay, I found the most amazing desks at that vintage shop I was telling you about. One was black with a glass top, and the other was this amazing slate gray and gold. They are both less than $200, you have to go check them out. xo

I meant one was black with a mirror top. I seriously have been thinking about going back for it.

I love it! How could you make it so amazingly tidy and stylish at the same time? I'm hopeless with sorting my books out. There are way too many off them *sigh*

I love how you've organized your book shelf. It's makes me reconsider all the books I'm in the process of giving away.

Love the tin and the cute pink elephant 'book end'.

The little elephant is darling. Nice collection of books and magazines Taylor! I've been wanting to get a second Ikea bookcase for my room too - they're perfect for organizing things that can get cluttered if they don't have a proper place to be kept!

you have such a great eye for decorating! i love the soft colors, and the little knick-knacks everywhere (it is so hard to have just the right amount so as not to look cluttered- you do it perfectly). ~joelle

Thanks everyone! I love decorating more than I ever thought I would. Same with cooking. Moving into this cottage with the man I love has turned me into a very small scale Martha Stewart. I never thought I would be into all of it, but I admit I kind of dig it!

Shelves are a perfect opportunity to create art. I have a book shelf I have had since I was a little girl that I decorated in a similar way. It just gives that special something to the room!
